GO ASK ALICE- Anonymous EPILOGUE
At the end of the book the epilogue explains that "anonymous" was found dead after her parents had returned from a movie only three weeks after deciding now to continue writing in another diary. She was rushed to the hospital, but it was already too late for her. She had overdosed.
accidental?
purpose?
no one will ever be able to answer the question as to why she overdosed, but what we can say is that "she was only one of thousands of drug related deaths that year".

The main character resists though, more than she ever thought possible, she even befriends some kids from school that are straight edge, and are willing to help her continue on a sober path, and for awhile that goes perfectly for her. She also meets a boy named Joel at the library where she studies, and she eventually falls in love wit him, But isn't until one day while babysitting that she is set up and tricked into taking acid, ultimately landing her into an insane asylum. At the asylum our main character meets a girl named Alice, a girl who shares her story with the main character about how she was a baby prostitute and a drug addict, and will forever be locked away in the asylum. Alice is only 14. The main character learns a lot from Alice, and eventually she gets out of the asylum. Once she is home, she starts to actually live a normal life, her family life is great, her new sober friends and Joel are great that our main character is finally happy. Her last post in her diary she says "I used to think that I would get another diary after you are filled, or even that I would keep a diary or journal my whole life. But now I don't really think I will. Diaries are great when you're young. In fact, you saved my sanity a hundred, thousand, million times. But I think when a person gets older she should be able to discuss her problems and thoughts with other people, instead of just with another part of herself as you have been to me. Don't you agree? I hope so, for you are my dearest friend and I shall thank you always for sharing my tears and heartaches and my struggles and strifes, and my joys and happiness. It's all been good in its own special way, I guess. See ya.".
